There is my visual website. My compelling question is : How can I be a global educator in science room? I will achieve this in three ways, to be leader, to be a learner and to be competent. In this website, I will combine all the course that I have learnt to facilitate me to get the point.
- Teachers as learners. During this course we know that teachers are not developed and there are still a lot of things to learn. If I want to be a global educator, I need to learn more knowledge and skills to become more professional. Learning enables me to be more confident to be a global educator.(ECI 606, EMS 505, EMS 506)
- New Literacies and Media. During this course I have learnt a lot of cool tools and I realize that the technology can facilitate us to get our students more engaged in the class. As a teacher, I want to learn more useful tools and I would recommend my students to use that, which can help them to become digital citizens. All of these can go to learner part, because we are learning by teaching. Global educators should use technology and media well to achieve their goals.(ECI 546)
- Teachers as Leaders: Leadership is an important component of a global educator. Leaders become great, not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others. we had the course teachers as leaders. during the class, we made our own leader poster, we had group discussion, we stepped out and talk with strangers,we read books and wrote blogs.A global sense of leadership has been built in me day by day, and it will undoubtedly affect my students in science room. How can I do that? There are a lot of ways. When they do group work, there might be conflicts or they might disagree with others. but they will learn to synergize. They must have a sense of team. They also need to learn how to put first things first. Only in that way, can they achieve the goal. We call that butterfly effect. Before they make a hypothesis, they can begin with the end in mind. They can have a plan together and test if the hypothesis is correct or not. They can value others' strengths and learn from them. There might be conflicts, but they can seek for a way to understand first and then to be understood. That’s the way of win-win. This science leadership training will facility them become well-prepared for global citizens. (ECI 508)
- To be Competent. Theory Research and Global Learning. During this course, I have learnt that how to be a cosmopolitanism. It does not require you to teach others, but also you need to respect another different culture and learn from them. Only in that way, can I be a cosmopolitan person. As teachers, we not only influence others but also are influenced by our teachers, which is a very cherish experience. I made two project in this class, to show how I was affected by my adviser and how I am growing on my way to be educators. Global educators should be competent. (ECI 524)
